August 2003 to Present - Consultant / Analyst / Developer
An international e-Commerce company - Scottsdale, AZ
Phoenix Capital Management
Duties Hired as a contractor.  The client company was having difficulty with its IT department.  Their corporate data was co-located and was not being made available to staff outside the IT department.  The situation was degrading and they needed an out quickly.  I was hired to reverse engineer their systems quietly and off-site.  This was accomplished via White hat hacking.  Once a copy of the critical data was procured, I re-designed and redeveloped their systems from the ground up.  This included front end e-commerce sales, through reporting, administration, CRM, email systems, etc.  This was achieved using several components of my existing intellectual property.  Coordinating a small development team, 60 days later they were fully operational on the new system and the other parties were let go.  Sales have improved.  System reliability has improved dramatically and customer satisfaction is at an all time high.  Sales throughput has doubled and the company is reaching record numbers for sales, customer retention, and transaction volume.  At the core of this company's processing is a private computing grid (grid computing) that handles common tasks and is "cycle scavenging" from the office based PC's and several remote facilities.
Technologies : Private Grid Computing / distributed computing / internet computing, ASP, ASP.net, Visual Basic 6.0, VB.net, MS SQL Server 2000, stored procedures, Windows XP, SQL, Visual Source Safe, COM architecture, JavaScript, object oriented middle tier, requirements gathering, technical documentation, systems design, neural computing, .Net, proprietary TCP/IP communications, encryption, project management.

April 2003 - August 2003 - Business Process Analyst / Architect / Product Manager / Programmer / Consultant / Lean Analyst / Technical Trainer
A national home mortgage lending company - Tempe, AZ
Wells Fargo
Duties Hired as a contractor.  Was asked to perform a comprehensive analysis of the mortgage loan processing technology and processes for a facility housing nearly 300 employees.  To apply lean management processes and analysis from the time an application is submitted to the time the loan is sent to archive.  To make improvements using technology and process redefinition.

The best solution, taking into account all aspects and requirements, was to create a web based workflow management system, supported by a neural computing (grid computing / distributed computing) platform.  The web based workflow system was used as a replacement for the 3270 system interface.  The neural computing platform was used to synchronize the 3270 system with the web based application system creating a seamless environment between the web apps and the corporate "green screens".  By utilizing a neural computing platform the changes occurring on both sides of the system were reflected to the other system in near real time.

I designed and built an XML scripting language and the associated scripting interpreters.  The web based application was developed using ASP via Macromedia Dreamweaver, and was enhanced by Flash animations and training modules developed in Macromedia Flash.  The communication for the neural platform was a combination of XML RPC, XML EDI, and custom developed XML exchanges similar to Microsoft .Net's protocols.  The neural platform also served as a translation platform from web based to database communications and all combinations thereof.  This enabled the system to easily integrate and/or communicate with a vast array of satellite software and support systems.

Technologies : Neural Computing / Private Grid Computing / Distributed Computing, ASP, SQL, MS SQL Server 2000, Visual Basic 6.0, Attachmate Controls, 3270 Terminal screen scraping, XML, script interpreter development, Visio, MS Word, MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, Macromedia's DreamWeaver, Macromedia Flash

A Computer Hardware VAR - Tempe, AZ
Insight
Duties Hired as a contractor to analyze, debug, and enhance a VB, COM, Java, MS SQL Server application used to add, delete, and maintain the company's product offerings.  In two months over 100 bugs were eliminated, customer satisfaction was achieved.  Next several new powerful functions and screens were added to the application which dramatically increased the user productivity and increased system reliability. Ultimately, the way was cleared for new systems development for a SAP conversion.
Technologies : Visual Basic 6.0, MS SQL Server 2000, Windows XP, SQL, Visual Source Safe, COM architecture, Java, object oriented middle tier, Install Shield, bugzilla, requirements gathering, technical documentation.

July 2002 to January 2003 - Analyst / Architect / Consultant / Programmer / Product Advocate
A Credit Card Company - Scottsdale, AZ
CashX.com
Duties Hired as a contractor to pick up and complete a functioning commercial credit card issuance, processing, and management system.  First duties included quickly orienting myself with what development has been completed to date, determine what was to be done, and deliver a roll out as soon as is possible.  After inhaling over 65,000 lines of Visual Basic and ASP code, I completed and delivered their fully functional web site within 2 weeks.  This involved substantially re-working the majority of the application code developed prior to my arrival.  As part of the rollout I was required to orient myself to the company's database structure (SQL Server 2000) of approx. 500 + database objects (Tables, Views, Stored Procedures).  I developed nearly 18,000 lines of new code and re-worked over 30 stored procedures for our successful roll out.  The rollout was smooth and un-eventful.

The second phase of my efforts were to take a more holistic approach to the system's operations and re-work or make refinements as requested or necessary.  Including re-analysis, re-design, and re-development, management tools and reporting, customer support tools, and financial reporting and utilities.

Systemically, I re-designed and developed the web site and ASP / VB applications supporting the sites operation.  Developed a customer support suite to assist the technical support group in resolving customer issues.  Developed a reporting package for management to view system trends, business trends, and basic financial reporting.

Earlier Projects

A local commercial software company I designed and built several technical support systems including a BBS, a fax support system, and an on-line technical reference for the technical support staff and the recruiting staff.  Then I integrated the four systems into a linear document distribution system.  The design of this system has yet to be duplicated commercially and will probably be the next step in document management.
A video production company I designed and built a business card-on-a-floppy program to run on the PowerPC and Windows based machines.
A technical recruiting firm I was a lecturer on visual basic, and the Internet and appointed to the technical committee which created the technical proficiency exams and generated training materials.  I authored a skills matrix program which would allow people to enter their skills into a data schema which was self managing and integrated with the firms central database.  The system was built as an open standard.  It appears that this program will soon also be considered the next step in it's category.
A local ISP I set-up and configured the primary development systems, generated several network monitoring systems, a web crawling engine, and HTML generators, working extensively with ASP scripting and server side ActiveX controls I also authored.  I designed and built several web sites and installed and configured their SQL Server.  I created a three tier database access system for the automated semantical network management programs to communicate with each other, the administrators, and the database itself.
A local technical recruiting firm I re-designed their web site and added functionality to allow employees and prospective consultants to view basic information about positions being offered by the firm.  I authored an open standard time card system, and several feedback mechanisms, as well as a common log parsing engine for the processing of the web sites visit logs.  I created an on-line mail-to form which uses ASP and a server side e-mail control of my design
